Rules
The Challenge runs from 7 March to 24 August (11:59pm) 2016. Students must complete their online Student Reading Records by 19 August (11:59pm).
It is a condition of entry that students entering and successfully completing the Challenge will receive a PRC certificate and may appear on the PRC Gold and Platinum Honour Roll.
Teachers, teacher-librarians and public librarians can assist students to choose the Challenge level and books that are appropriate for their age, interest and maturity levels. Students must complete a set amount of reading to meet the Challenge, see Rules Table above:
Years K-2 students can experience their books; Years 3-9 students read their books independently. To experience a book a child can listen to the book, participate in a shared reading of the book or read part or all of the book independently.
Students who require special support may listen to unabridged audio versions of the books as they read along to them.
All Student Reading Records are submitted online. Schools can register from 03/Mar/2014. Student Reading Records can be entered online from 03/Mar/2014. Students can enter their books as they read them. An electronic Student Reading Record is completed by either entering the PRC ID number of each book or clicking on titles from a drop-down PRC list. Many choice books can also be selected from a drop-down list.
It is a condition of entry that all students entering and successfully completing the Premier's Reading Challenge will receive an official PRC certificate and their names may appear on the PRC Gold and Platinum Honour Roll. To successfully complete the Challenge the student must have an online reading record entered and validated by 29 August (11:59pm) 2014.
The certificate shows the student's name and school. Only the students' name will appear in the Gold and Platinum Honour Roll with no other identifying factors. Participating schools appear as a separate list .
Students who do not wish to receive a certificate or be on the Gold and Platinum Honour Roll should not register for the Challenge. These students may take part in the Challenge unofficially - they may use the PRC booklists and can seek recognition in their local school community but they cannot enter an official record.
A reading log can be used to keep a personal ongoing record of books read (ID number, title and author). Students will also need to supply information on whether they have completed the Challenge before and if it was at a different school. This information must be entered on the online Student Reading Records.
Students, whose online entries are received by the closing date of 19 August 2016, and following validation by the school, are eligible for certificates.
Only one certificate per year will be issued to each student regardless of the number of books read.
